LA: the City of Angels, my sister's stomping grounds, and a city I love to visit.
For the amount of time I've spent down in LA, I feel like I haven't taken full advantage of what the city has to offer: up and coming neighborhoods, fashion, places to stay, eats, etc. So the goal for this trip was to explore and... staycation! More specifically, lay by a pool, relax, and drink. I was craving the feeling of baking in the sun, doing absolutely nothing yet absolutely EVERYTHING. You know, getting away and having time to reflect on the highs and lows, and how to make those lows better.
Needless to say, my sister and I got what WE wanted.
We decided to do a mini staycation at The Standard in WeHo. It was everything and more. Mid-century modern architecture, clean interior, minimal design, so much character, good food, and even better drinks. We spent most of our time on the bright blue astro turf pool deck, which has ping pong, pink floaties (we dubbed the name donuts...because why not), a killer view of WeHo, music, plants galore, and great people watching. And our room was just as good: crisp white sheets, bright blue headboard, branded paper goods... the list goes on. It hit every check mark in my book, and will definitely be back for round 2.
While the staycation at The Standard took up most of the trip, we managed to squeeze in a couple other things prior to the pool sesh, such as a quick coffee and breakfast run at Alfred Coffee (my fave), and a hike in Laurel Canyon Park, and we finished the day at The Izaka-Ya for dinner. Such. Good. Sushi. If you're looking for a solid day of adventure topped with eating and drinking in LA, check these places out.
This staycation = 10/10! Felt so good to be back in California, spend time with my sister, and explore LA. The Standard, TY for the incredible stay. And TY sister for putting up with me. ;) Until next time, City of Angels!
